Kneel Before Zod #1-8 is an
eight-issue comic book limited series published by DC Comics from March to October 2024. Written by veteran writer
Joe Casey and heavily textured with gritty, sci-fi interior art by

The series acts as a core prequel setting up the massive Kingdom of Zod event across mainline Superman titles.
Plot Overview
-
The New Domain: General Zod has achieved his ultimate dream. He rules over his own planet, Jakal (renamed New Kandor), alongside his brutal wife, Ursa, and their young son. Together, they are constructing a ruthless eugenics program to turn the local populace into a new army of Kryptonian-powered super-warriors.
-
The Fall: Zod’s world is completely shattered when an overwhelming alien invasion force strikes New Kandor, devastating the planet and brutally killing Ursa. Left with nothing but unyielding rage, Zod begins a descent into absolute mental instability, plagued by manifestations of his old rival, Jor-El, in his head.
-
The Climax: Stripped of his throne and floating through deep space, Zod's cosmic anger becomes a weapon. The series culminates in an epic showdown in issue #8 between Zod and Sinestro. Following the brutal stalemate, Zod sets a definitive path of chaos through the cosmos, vowing to seek out and execute Superman.
Key Features & Legacy
- A Darker Tone: Departing entirely from traditional superheroics, the series plays out like a dark, tragic, and hyper-brutal space opera. It focuses entirely on a dictator struggling with aging, trauma, and a complete inability to find peace.
